Hello everyone! A new member here.

My name is Therese, I come from Sweden and I live only 20 minutes away from Axel von Fersen's castle called Löfstad. I study art history at the university and my major is 18th century arcitecture. I been in love with the 18th century and every thing about it as long as I can remember. I actuallay don't know so much about Mare Antoinette as I would love to, but I want to learn, that's why I became a member here! I also love the Swedish king, Gustaf III, who loved France and was a good friend with Axel von Fersen. My dream is to one day get the chance to visit Versailles and feel a little bit of the life that Marie Antoinette lived.

That's me!

Therese - you are a welcome addition to the forum! We are in need of new members who have knowledge of the 18th century and are happy to have you.
Any pictures of that castle you can post? There is much here that you can discover about Marie Antoinette......we also have a FaceBook page!

Welcome here Thérèse! :)

We do indeed need new members!

Can I encourage you to read a biography of Marie Antoinette if you haven"t already done so? That is the best way of learning about her, and enables you to proffer your own thoughts on the subject as opposed to simple learning from us, or reacting to what we write here. :) That is after all the whole basis of a forum. Sweden played a close rôle in the Queen's life, and is one of the few countries to have remained steadfast and true to the Royal couple in their troubles. So your presence here is all the more relevant! :)

I would recommend The Journey by Antonia Fraser (very good introduction to MA but suspicious because of her Fersen/MA assertions), Louis and Antoinette by Vincent Cronin, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette Before the Revolution by Nesta Webster and if you read French, L'Insoumise by Simone Bertiere and Marie Antoinette by Phillippe Delorme.
