Well, it should help resizing the images but I understand what you mean.

By Lilly's interesting post the "le Chateau de Versailles" topic I checked up Charles le Brun's works and found this page where you can attend his painter career. His drawings are amazing, too.

Anouk, this is a really nice little website you've found here! It is called the WEB GALLERY OF ART for anyone else who may be interested - you can look up just about anyone and see their work and a little background information as well. Thanks!

Do you think I should ask Adrienne to put the things back the way they were? This way of seeing images is less pretty and the system doesn't help me much to change size of big photos. :|

Did nt England and Britain in a way "specialize " in the genre of portrait painting
esp in the 18th cent ?
With the industrial revolution , it was a prosperous country and the prosperous
middle classes had money to spend on portraiture.

The 17th cent too seems obsessed with portrait painting... eg Van Dyke and Peter Lely.

I do love the Countess of Eglinton....I have never heard of her! I am also looking at choosing harp music for our wedding ceremony at the moment so it was a happy coincidence to see this painting!

It is true, and we did post a lot of these paintings. Here is something different, playful and saucy paintings by Boilly who I find so amusing.
I was lucky to see these, among some other of the same type and I loved them. :P
