Post Antoinette pics
I just fell upon a pic I love for long, and always have difficulties to find on the net. That's why, now that I found it, I'd like to share it with you :
Image
Gravé par H. Barding, d'après la statue de Lord Ronald Gower (1877).

What do you think ? Doesn't it beautifully portray the nobility and pride of our queen led to the scaffold ?

Merci, Pimprenelle! C'est très émouvante.
And this was undoubtely a painting that paper-doll maker Tom Tierney used as a model for one of her pictures of Marie Antoinette. Only that he imagined that the execution dress was green(!).

Thank you all ! You are all so sweet ! By the way, Vivienne, are you an Aquarius ? I am too !

Marie-Antoinette was surrounded by Virgos. Louis, Fersen, Lamballe, Polignac. The only Aquarius I know among her friends was Mme de Freminville, a very erudite lady of her daughter's suite she appreciated so much that she wanted her to become her children's teacher.

I often saw this engraving on the net, and even printed it. It's among those pics on my walls... But this time, I found it on e-bay.

I am an Aquarian, Pim. (Glad to know we share this birth sign)

Ref the above engraving - I am not that good at this type of thing - I have been trying to find out about the original statue by Lord Ronald Gower.

It seems it may well be here in England, at a place called Eaton Hall. (Near to Chester).
It is apparently life size - and well worth a look I feel.

Does anyone else have any info?

Viv
