I never saw this portait, but now it's one of my favorite!! It's Marie Antoinette with Madame Royale...And who is the women that gives a hand to Madame Royale?? Maybe Gabrielle de Polignac??

Yes, I think it is Mme de Polignac. This painting was made in XIXth century, wasn't it ? I mean, it is not with the actual characters poising for the artist.

I love this too... and so does my dog !

A beautiful woman with beautiful brown hair, who seems close to Marie-Thérèse and Marie-Antoinette, it must be polignac I think

But who painted it and when? It's as if it had been made after the revolution...

It was Joseph Caraud, in 1870

And there's another women outside, waiting for Gabrielle de Polignac and Madame Royale... Unfortanely we can't know who she was... Lamballe? Don't think so...Maybe a Queen lady in waiting less known, or simply a maid...But she also could be the princesse de Tarente, Madame de Tourzel....As I said, we can't know who was the women, unless the author of the portait recorded the names of the characters...

Outside is simply a maid. Are you sure it is Madame de Polignac taking Madame Royale's hand? I picture Gabrielle smiling....The lady resembles Madame de Lamballe more than she does Gabrielle, I think. But then Gabrielle was the governess. A lovely painting!!!! Thank you!!!

Yes, Therese, we supposed it was Gabrielle for she has dark hair and she takes care of Mousseline. However, I think she looks younger than the queen. Couldn't it be Madame Elisabeth, after all ? She was younger...

Mme de Lamballe's blond hair were famous...

Yes, I was wondering if it were Madame Elisabeth! I think perhaps that is who it is supposed to be. She looks serious and modest like Elisabeth. And Mousseline spent a great deal of time with her aunt.
