Is that Madame Royale meeting with Rosalie?

I don't think so...The portait is on and it says: «Générosité de la duchesse d'Angoulême, par Cécile-Hortense Haudebourt-Lescot, 1821»

Thank you indeed Jules for sharing these paintings. It is hard to comprehend the pain Madame Royale had to endure. I think it is written on her face for all the world to see :(

One can really see her beautiful hair on this portrait. They say the great beauty of Madame Royale/Duchesse d'Angouleme was her hair, which darkened into more of a chestnut gold as she matured. While in Vienna, she would visit a nearby convent school and the girls would take turn brushing her hair. They would occasionally pull out a single strand for a souvenir and Marie-Therese-Charlotte would pretend not to notice.

That's what Fersen said, indeed. He reports in his diary that she took after the Bourbons.

She was a Bourbon, definitely, but I see her mother, too. In the mouth, the neck, the shape of the eyes, the hands. It is said she had her mother's swan-like neck and beautiful arms, among other traits.

I agree Therese, Madame Royale recovered something of her mother: the purity of the skin, the nobility and grace :D
