Just curious to see which one is your favorite. Mine is this one of the Queen surrounded by the children of France with the empty cradle. Her face looks so regal and delicate at the same time, and although she is stouter, quite beautiful. :) ... 8d353e.jpg

It is a portrait with a story, dear... It is painted by Kucharsky, who, after Mme Vigée-Lebrun's departure for emigration, became the queen's painter. He first made this picture I also adore :
Painted in 1790 in the Tuileries

Then, he was asked for another portrait. He began his work, but was interrupted by the escape to Montmedy. It is this "unfinished portrait". In the lower side of the painting, you can see a hole. It was made by a revolutionary when they attacked the Tuileries.

Very Interesting story Pimprenelle! :D So was Kucharsky the Queen's portrait painter during the Terror?

Oh how lovely Louis Charles :D A young M.A. One can see her large beautiful blue eyes, and fine complexion!

Indeed Louis XVI! :D

And Drouais was a rather realistic painter!
We find almost all the physical characteristics of Marie-Antoinette in this portraits: large eyes, a great face, the lips "Habsbourg", the aquiline nose, and the chin
...And her grace of course!
