Kucharsky went to the temple after Louis XVI's death and painted Marie Antoinette in mourning.

Lovely, Pimprenelle!
There is a portrait of the Queen in mourning that I think is very nice, but I cannot find it online.  She is wearing a black veil over her head, and holds a cameo of Louis XVI, and she is in the conciergerie.

I do love that Marie-Antoinette dauphine portrait!! Those eyes ~ wow!! Although I relate more and am touched more by the painting of M.A. with children and the empty cradle...

Yes, the classic a la Rose, that one is probably my second favorite. My first favorite, though, is another portrait by Kucharsky. Perhaps it exaggerates the queen's beauty a bit, but she looks so kind and benevolent, as we all know that she was to her friends and even to her acquaintances.
