Yes she gives many details on the ceremony of the rising, preparing etc... She describes us also many exchanges between Marie-Antoinette and some of her close relations like Lamballe, Polignac, Lauzun (until she pushes back him because of his advances...), but also with her enemies.
And she specifies her manners of eating and her leisures during the stays in Trianon I believe.

What do you think about certain acquisitations that Mme Campan was always off-duty when something terrible happened in Versailles before the revolution? That she has been warned beforehand?Sorry, I can't remember who wrote this, maybe you else do...

I must admit I have always felt a kind of instinctive dislike against Mme Campan. I don't know about your information, Aurora, but I just read something interesting too : "The queen hid many things from her (Campan) once imprisoned in the Tuileries for she had noticed that her chambermaid communicated her confidences to her lover, Roux-Fazillac, former bodygard and member of the legislative assembly". This comes from A. Kuril, les atours de Marie-Antoinette, p. 16, and this lady, a very serious scholar, adds, that Roux-Fazillac was among those who voted death for the king !
Royalist with the queen, republican with her lover, napoleonist under the empire, and memorialist in the eyes of posterity !
Oh, guys... dear friends... to meet Antoinette, read Antoinette, and never listen to anybody but herself !

Oh, Pimprenelle. That is totally fascinating!!!!! Perhaps Marie-Therese was not merely vengeful, but had information that was not widely known.

Do you mean Marie-Therese did not appreciate Henriette ?

Well, let us just say that M-T did not include Henriette in her entourage at the Tuileries.

It's true that we don't know too what Marie-Thérèse thought about Mrs Campan ... (we just know very few things about her thoughts... but we know that she liked Polignac ).
But the Duchess of Angoulème believed that Campan had been accessory to Napoleon with the opening of her school.
