i bought this for my daughter's christmas and it is indeed a beautiful book!
the illustrations are very subtle but i have to say i had a tear in my eye  when i got to the end of it as it stops with MA and her daughter petting the dog and i really felt sad knowing the history etc.

its a lovely book and well worth seeing!

There is a book on Marie-Antoinette for older children (8-12y) currently for sale on scholastic. I know nothing of the book and if it is good or not though.

I read the diary by Kathyryn Lasky a long time ago and I've reread it several times since then; it really is charming. I was maybe ten when I read it and after I read it I remember thinking "How could the girl from this diary grow up to be so selfish and spoiled like everyone says she was?" That's when I decided to do some research! :D

yeah, the Royal Diaries Marie Antoinette is really very good, and quite accurate too. All the Royal Diaries are very accurate, actually.
