i loved the movie so now im reading the book which is great!

yes, Knightly was perfect for it and with the make up he resembles her very well.

You've already seen it? I do not care for her look on the movie posters at all - too much makeup! Although some of the movie stills I've seen are not too bad. I realize they cast Keira for her star power but there are many actresses who would've done her more credit.

Interesting that you said there was a relationship between
Marie A. Yolande Polignac and the Duch of Devonshire
I d never thought of it, but they were all very high profile ladies
of the time
the thought of them socializing together is fascinating.

Gotto agree that Kiera Knightly playing the part of the Duchess is nt
exactly inspired casting,
My nickname for her is .... Kiera (ironing board ) Knightly
( she s got nothing on top ! )

A 30 year old Sarah Miles would have fitted the part like a glove....
yes, she would have been just perfect !

Thinking about it Lysette Anthony would be just about my choice.
you probably can t see her, but in fact Lysette is on the above pic
save it and see !

no of course not, but a 30 year old sarah miles would have fitted
the bill
( BTW did nt she do a movie about Emma Hamilton ? way back when
,.............don t forget that Emma Hamilton visited Marie A in the Tuillleries
and took Maries last ever letter to Marie's sister the Queen of Naples. )

But I think Lysette Anthony would have been a far better choice to
play the Duchess of Devonshire than Kiera ( Ironing board ) Knightley !

I'm not sure what point you're attempting to make here. You don't like the Duchess film adaptation?

Has anyone seen this movie? I really want to see it, but it doesn't come out in France for another month. What do you think?
