Yes I had read he was shot too. That is a very brave thing to say to the executioner, as stated in the past post, but yes, if he was annoying, I wouldnt really care about anything he had to say :lol:

I cannot remember who exactly said this, but I do know that I read it in the book Liberty by Lucy Moore, which is a compendium of women's lives during the French Revolution; someone believe that if more people had reacted the way du Barry did at the scaffold, than less would have been executed because du Barry's reaction unnerved the crowd so much.

That's quite possible...the proud way most people went to their deaths made life easier for the executioners for sure!
