Ha! Somebody who writes that Lamballe was intelligent and that she had spirit! How it is true!
And the author is right, she was close to the new ideas, and she worried about the poor... in short she should not have been murdered...
The author's conclusion is very nice :
"The Princesse de Lamballe was a bit misguided but ultimately heroic and loyal, and the grisly death to which she was subjected exemplified not only the misogyny of the new order but a hatred of all that was beautiful and good."
It is so true!!!

I did not know the testimony of Edmund Burke about Marie-Antoinette
I love this sentence :
"I thought ten thousand swords must have leaped from their scabbards, to avenge even a look which threatened her with insult."
...I think like that too!

Yes, L-C, and maybe you should write that on the site, so that those visiting will know that other people agree and that the author is just not inventing it.

Yes, I love Edmund Burke's words!!!!

oh I just read that article! thanks Therese!

I love Lamballe. In General she reminds me of the friend you take for granted cause she's less interesting to you but she is loyal and always there for you.

Here is an article, already posted on another thread, but it is a pretty good description.
