In 1778, during the last trip of Mozart in France, Louis XVI offered him a job as organist in Versailles, but he refused as he wanted to be engaged as maitre de chapelle... Moreover he didn't appreciated the French taste for music and he was also accused of composing too difficult music. So the travel to Paris was a flop!

This is a fabulous question...
I asked the same one! I was doing a report on Marie Antoinette and I read this....

I think that Mozart did suggest that he wanted to marry Marie Antoinette, but he never did...

Wouldn't that have been a cute story?

I think the real history is a great story as well!
