I finished reading an old biography about Anna Ivanonva titled A Forgotten Empress by Mina Curtiss. She was Peter the Great's niece and reigned in her own right. There are few books about Anna in English so it was an interesting read. I wasn't too familiar with Russian history between Peter and Catherine the Great so it filled in the gap.
This book was published in 1974 so you'll have to go through your local library.

I don't know much about her, only that she was overthrown by Peter during the Strelitz battle.

Just wanted to quote an extract from Brain Chaninov's "History Of Russia" which reminded me of an old unresolved quarrel with the above typical Ludy like bold afirmation!

Il semble que ce soit surtout en Angleterre que le jeune Tzar acquit ses connaissances de la construction navale....
