Chou-Charles... So many people fell under her magnetic charm, in her imprisonment time... Remember Rougeville, de Batz, Atkins, Michonis, Lamorlière, Richard, De Busnes, Chaveau-Garde and Tronson du Coudray...

She had something special, something higher than physical beauty... Her soul was beautiful, her charism was prodigious... Why do you think we are still so many crazy about her ?

She is uncomparable, she is unique !

Ah I am to 100% of agreement with you, I want to reassure you! :D

Marie-Antoinette had this dignity and this imposing presence that the others did not have inevitably...
But I just wanted to say that the stress of the revolution and the anguish of death slightly denatured her physique (slightly of course), although her dignity and her imposing presence were always there.

Indeed she was magic and incredible.
The Boizot's bust shows that :

She was a real Queen, she had this in blood!

Dear Pim,

I am not a fan of Fersen ..... I much prefer Louis - who I truely admire.

I couldn`t resist quoting the Duchess of Devonshire who seems to me to have been so very engaging and entertaining !!!!!!!!

Thank you so much, dear Vivienne ! I enjoy having references from Englishspeaking witnesses, for us, Frenchspeaking people, tend to rely specially on French sources !

Indeed Vivienne, Louis was really in love with Marie-Antoinette : one of rare king without maitress :D

And I respect his discretion for the relations which had Marie-Atoinette with Fersen: louis XVI was really understanding and relied on his wife :D

A great husband!

For sure ! Fersen was a friend of royalty first of all... Louis relied on him too.

Following the Giraut de Coursac and Delorme, Louis would never accept that his wife had an affair with any gentleman. Would you ?

Louis would never have accepted his wife having an affair. He trusted her totally in this regard. He was good friends with Fersen, too.

Generally, Louis XVI appreciated almost all the friends of Marie-Antoinette, except Choiseul. :D

Yes, because Choiseul had been part of La Pompadour's clique, and he had called Louis-Auguste and his siblings "the Dresden knicknacks."

Wasn't Aiguillon the gentleman who spied on Louis and Antoinette through the key hole? They once opened the door and surprised him eavesdropping on them.
