Duchesse de Bourbon

Is she always Louise-Marie-Thérèse-Bathilde d'Orléans 1750-1822 later citoyenne Vérité. The other woman Louise-Marie-Adélaide de Bourbon, duchesse d'Orléans 1753-1821 could be sometimes mistaken for her or were the both called duchesse de Bourbon for some time?
They had very different characters (and lives although very near), but I needed some info about la duchesse de Bourbon and began to have doubts about which one she was, some music was dedicated to this duchesse in late 1780's and they very likely both played..

It would also be great to know about her attitudes and relations to Marie Antoinette. Both ladies were in the family of royal blood anyway.

I am looking forward to your kind answers and eager to learn new!!

Your question is very interesting! :D
But the Duchess of Bourbon and the Duchess of Orleans were rather discrete, and few historians speak about them...
But I think that Marie-Antoinette almost did not have relations with these women : she did not appreciate the Duke of Orleans so it did not help :D

But like you I don't know any really more about them... :?

Thank you anyway. By the way both ladies separated from their first husbands, Bathilde in 1780 and Adélaide in 1792.

Yes, poor Adelaide left Philippe; she just could not endure anymore....

And can we really blame her for doing that!
Philippe-Egalité always gives me shivers.
Adélaide was a sister-in-law to Princesse de Lamballe so I have always been interested about how much she knew about the real Marie Antoinette without the propaganda of Paris cercles.

Bathilde was in top of the freemacon club and a pupil of the Philosophe Inconnu and was having meetings with martinistes, occultes and magnétisme. But so was Princesse de Lamballe and Maria Carolina free macons.

After all everybody knew everybody in the top of the society it seems to be, but how much.

Members of the Orleans family, such as Philippe himself, seemed to be involved in the occult and with the Illuminati.

The Duchesse de Bourbon (Matilde) was by birth an Olreans, but married the son of the Prince de Conde, the Duc de Bourbon (not to be confused with the Bourbon-Penthievres, a different family). At one time it was thought that she would marry the Comte d'Artois, but this never happened. In fact, Artois publically insulted her once at the Paris Opera, nearly leading to a duel between him and the (then) Duc d'Chartres (later Philippe Egalite), her brother. I believe the King put a stop to this duel before it took place.
As her husband the Duc de Bourbon was a Prince of the Blood, she most certainly was often required to be at Court and most certainly must have interacted directly with the Queen, if only for official reasons. The only thing I know about her personal life, is that her husband was a notorious womanizer and alcoholic, and she spent a good deal of time complaining about his bad behavior.

The Duchess d'Orleans (Adelaide) was by birth a Bourbon-Penthievre, and married into the Orleans family. So these two ladies, almost the same age, came from almost identical backgrounds. Interestingly enough, they both suffered for the actions of their husbands.
