No, she was Maria Christina; someone says this favouritism was due to the fact that she was born the same day as her mother, but that's just an idea, I think
Poor Maria Carolina married a famously ugly prince (the King of Naples); even Maria Theresa, when she described him to her daughter, couldn't but tell her: "One can't certainly say he's a handsome prince, but in the end he is not completely repellent" (this was in one of the chapters of Fraser's biography).

So do I. That's rather unfortunate! If was betrothed to a man I would hope that he would be semi- or attractive at leas, or if he is unattractive extremely nice. :)

Or in my case, I'd want the woman to be attractive, and nice. It's the best combination I think! Although looks aren't everything!
But they are nice ;]

Well, I don't know very much about Maria Carolina's marriage, but she had a lot of children, so in the end she worked it out

It could have worked out, did her children live to adulthood?

Maria Carolina was a veritable baby machine - she had seventeen children!! So many of them died young, six lived to adulthood, including Maria Amalia who married Louis-Philippe, son of the Duc d'Orléans (Philippe Égalité).

Good Lord! Seventeen children. shock:She was indeed a child machine! How was she when she died? That portrait looks like it was painted in the 1820's or 1830's or is that her daughter? Well at least one survived to adulthood.

This portrait is of her daughter, Maria Amalia. I would imagine Maria Carolina was rather tired out by this stage - it is simply extraordinary that the human body can produce so many children! Two or three would be enough for me, I would think!

I don't think could go past more than 15 children. :D. I'm joking, four or five children would suffice! That being the most.

Mon dieu, five would be a handful. Three is compact.

Well, Maria Theresa herself had 16 children...and she was still though as iron in the end of her life
