Post What was in that letter?
I don't know, maybe this thing was mentioned in another topic, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I read in a book (probably in Catharina Habsburg-Lothringen's biography) something about an interesting letter. After Madame de Polignac left Versailles, Madame Tourzel became the governess of the royal children. Marie-Antoinette wrote a long letter to her about her son and daughter. This letter shows that she was a really good mother, because she had known her children's souls and she didn't want to spoil them. (There's a quote in the book: "We need to make a king from my son, so we must be strict to him"...)

Is that letter still exist nowadays? Does anyone have the full descriptions of the children? I'm really excited in that... :angel3:

Thanks a lot

Indeed, this letter exists, and it is an authentic one. It is often partially quoted in biographies. The entire letter has been published by Evelyne Lever in this edition of Marie Antoinette's correspondence she made in 2005. It is in French. I have no copy in English, sorry...

Thank you, thank you...

Unfortunately this book isn't available in my country, but maybe they'll translate it soon. Another book of Lever (about the necklace affair) has a Hungarian translation, so they might translate this one too. (Or, if there's only the French one, I find the original letter somewhere and let someone translate from French to Hungarian.)

Thanks again

Dear Sophie A. Caron, in case you find this letter in French language, I'd right away translate it into Hungarian.

All the best,

Anouk
