 Madame Clothilde
EM Vidal has a post about Madame Clothilde, Louis XVI's other sister: http://teaattrianon.blogspot.com/2009/11/venerable-clothilde-de-france.htmlI had heard about her mentioned in biographies about La Reine and she doesn't receive as much attention.

 Re: Madame Clothilde
Poor Clothide, she was even then mocked because of her weight… Louis XVI, Comte de Provence and her, all had a weight problem.

 Re: Madame Clothilde
Thanks for the picture, I don't think that I've seen her before. She looks like her brother the King!

 Re: Madame Clothilde
Oh yes, truly! She was a bit piggy, I presume Her brother loved to eat, too. In turn she looks very benevolent, don't you think? Did Marie Antoinette like her? How was their relation?

 Re: Madame Clothilde
But, seriously - What a dear husband she must have had to defend her weight. She was the Queen of Sardinia. According to Cronin, she left home in 1775 to marry - "she was to lead a life of such exceptional unselfishness in adverse circumstances that after her death her cause of beatification was introduced, though never carried through...." (Cronin)
(1759-1802) Madame Clothilde - She was only 4 years younger than Marie Antoinette

 Re: Madame Clothilde
Madame Clothilde was the sister of Louis XVI, but she married with the prince of Piamonte, Charles Manuel IV and after they became kings of Sardinia. One year after Marie Antoinette and Louis became kings of France, she left for Sardinia.
