Re: Madame Clothilde Poor Clothide, she was even then mocked because of her weight… Louis XVI, Comte de Provence and her, all had a weight problem.

According to Cronin, she left home in 1775 to marry - "she was to lead a life of such exceptional unselfishness in adverse circumstances that after her death her cause of beatification was introduced, though never carried through...." (Cronin)

Re: Madame Clothilde Madame Clothilde was the sister of Louis XVI, but she married with the prince of Piamonte, Charles Manuel IV and after they became kings of Sardinia. One year after Marie Antoinette and Louis became kings of France, she left for Sardinia.
