Post Some questions about Versailles' people
What's Louis XV's real name? Louis XVI was really Louis Auguste.

There was a man called Raumont in Coppola's movie, was he real person?
If he was, who?

Do you have got some kind of list of Versailles inhabitants?

Thanks very much :)!

Louis' birth name was actually just Louis, as far as I've read.

Well, I typed in "Raumont" in Google and nothing about and 18th century aristocrat came up, leading me to believe he might have been made up, kinda like they cut one of the children and one of the aunts out.

Okey, thanks very much :)

Do you know any sites where I can find some kind of list of people who lived in Versailles during the time when Marie Antoinette lived there? I have tried to find it using the google, but I haven't found anything good. Can you help me please?

I don't think you will be able to find a list. There were just too many people living there. I have heard that as many as 10,000 people lived at Versailles in Louis XVI's time. Take a look at this interactive site http://www.french-touch-art.com/en-pano ... ailles.htm and scroll down to see all the apartment buildings at the court. That gives you some idea of the number of people living there.

Post Re: Some questions about Versailles' people
Versailles in its golden age was very much like a large modern hotel: there were people constantly arriving and leaving. Anytime a noble came to Paris, he/she was expected to pay a call on the Court at Versailles as well. This included foreign nobles visiting France. So at any given time, there were several hundred-if not thousand-visitors, some of whom had invitations to stay at the palace during their visit.
Still more confusing, many of the nobles who made up the 'Court,' were only actually in residence for a part of the year, spending the rest of their time at their own homes. Others kept homes or apartments near the palace, but did not actually live in the palace. For a reasonable proximity of a list, it would be safe to say that all of Louis' chief ministers had quarters at Versailles, as well as the Queen's ladies and her friends, and the Princes of the Blood. Aside from these figures, it's simply not possible to compose such a list.
