Merteuil, I am reading this along with several other books on M.A. and French Revolution. I think it is an interesting point of view and well written. I am also reading 'Citizens' which is lengthy and detailed, and I am most drawn right now to Nesta Webster's 'Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette Before the Revolution'. For fun also, I found a copy of Beaumarchais 'The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro'. There are a few others I have dipped into also. Overall, I can say I like Queen of Fashion, but I need more of the overall history and details of the time period and politics to start, so am reading more of the other books. I am wondering if there is a book only of illustrations?

I think there is already a thread for this book; I know several of our members have enjoyed it!

I am almost finished with it and so far it has been very good in describing what MA wore and the political consequences of her choices. I think pairing this with the Frasier book would be a perfect MA combo read.

Well I loved the Fraser biography, so maybe I'll try it again.

I bought this book the other day (for £12.34 off of Amazon, Mondeskind!). I'm still in the process of reading it, but it's quite good - so refreshing to find a different take on the life of our Queen.

It's interesting to see what one wears can cause a political influence. In Thailand, the king of Thailand was told that a color to wear for good health is pink and the King appeared in a pink blazer, and then there was a pink craze. People in the streets were selling pink shirts like there was no tomorrow. And yellow was a color for the King's health, and the yellow was the new pink. I actually find it rather endearing. Here's the link. I hope you all appreciate it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7128935.stm
