The scene when her children are taken away was heart breaking.

It's so emotional, you feel it, as if it were happening to you...

You feel bad for her because at first she thinks handsome Artois is the Daulphin, but then she sees "Quasi Motto," and you can tell she is so disappointed. I love the Louis in that film. he was perfect. and you come to love him for his character along with her.(maybe Jason Schwartzman was too good looking) the only thing is that the 1936 movie was not filmed in Versailles, and that is the leading reason I love Coppola's film! for me Versailles was the real star of that film, and the whole look of it. enhanced by the Costumes, set dressings, hair, music, & all of it. oh yes, and the carriages. Stunning, the whole thing.

I wrote that the costumes were not historicallay correct and some challenged me on that statement. In the movie they use hot pink in the costumes but as far as I know hot pink didn´t came in fashoin until the 1950´s. But the most irritating error although intentional was a pair of Converse All Star 1923 Chuck Taylor basketball shoes. I do see the point but the modern music should have been enough.

I think the Chuck Taylor's were thrown in to convey that Marie Antoinette was still a teenager.

It still looked very chic.
