If they were to make an accurate movie on Marie Antoinette who would you like to see play the part of the fascinating noble Queen?

:D I personally would love to see Scarlett Johansson play the part of Marie.

Oh, I don't know ! It's too difficult ! I loved Ute Lemper's work in "l'Autrichienne"... but she must be a little too old, now. As for Meryl Streep, who has such an aerial grace...

Honestly, I would make a casting, a very accurate one, and find an unknown actress... or wait till Marie-Antoinette is cloned ! That would be the best solution...

I also thought, as far as the young actresses go, that Scarlett J would have been ok. I really think the actress who will someday play Marie-Antoinette in a new screen production is not yet on the horizon.

It's hard to find one that is perfect for the role, it's really the story or acting that should matter most but I figured if your going to make a life story of marie you would need a young actress, after all, Marie was very young when she married and died very young at that too.

Post I too like Scarlett Johanson
Thinking about actresses to play Marie Antoinette, I am swayed by look - I look for the lovely and buxom blonde actress who also has that hauteur that touch of arrogance, majesty, and then a great actress too.

For current actresses, I too like Scarlett Johanson.

For earlier actresses, I like Catherine DeNeuve.

From Hollywood's Golden Era 1930s 40s - Lana Turner or Ingrid Bergman.

If you visit my yahoo group, we have two polls on this subject. For recent actresses, Kate Winslett leads with 28 votes, Catherine De Neuve 19, and Michelle Pfieffer and Jane Seymour each trail with 18 votes among 20 listed actresses and 165 votes cast.

In our classic poll Vivien Leigh, Norma Shearer and Ingrid Bergman are in a 3-way tie at the moment each with 10 votes among 20 listed actresses of that era and 90 votes cast.

Please do cast your vote and i invite you to also repost with us also, to see what views members of my group might express.

An interesting poll! So hard to see anyone as Marie Antoinette. I think Charlotte von Turckenheim was a good look- alike in the film "Jefferson in Paris", but I don't know more about her acting, that role was very small...Anyway it has to be someone with true charm, charisma and someone who really has "the flow" inside her, meaning independent, musical interpretation.

Your right, Louis-Antoinette ! We should need two different actresses. A little girl for young Antonia, and a wonderful woman for Marie-Antoinette.

But I don't like Scarlett as much as you all do... She's a nice girl, but... She lacks this magical touch...

Having the magical touch is what counts even more than the beauty. My first choice would have been Kate Winslet, of the more established actresses.

That's one of things that I saw in Sophia's film you see Marie Antoinette meeting Louis as an adult. I didn't see a young Marie which I find very important.

 It would be nice to see a film which potrays the whole life of Marie and seeing two actresses, one for Marie as a young teenager the other as a noble adult. However, I wouldn't like what most history films do in Hollywood where they switch the actresses automatically, one minute you see them as a young person then the other they become suddenly a adult. I would like to see little by little Marie growing, and we see a slow process of Marie growing in the palace both mentally and physically how she forms to a beautiful woman.
