Oh, yes... What do you think ? Have seen the teaser, already ? And would you have chosen Kirsten Dunst to be the queen ?

As people usually say : "wait and see"...

The teaser is a little film for publicity. In french "bande-annonce". You can see it on movie sites, I think

Kirsten Dunst ? I have nothing against her in "Virgins suicides" or "Interview with a vampyre", but I think she really doesn't look like Marie-Antoinette ! She's far too thin, first of all, with no bosom ! She has a rond face, and very peculiar eyes, looking almost perverse, in my opinion...

Have you seen "l'Autrichienne", with Ute Lemper ? That's a beautiful Marie-Antoinette !

Amicalement,
Pimprenelle

It's a wonderful movie on the last few days of Marie-Antoinette, by Garnier Deferre. Based on Castelot's works. It's historically serious ! We even hear sentences the queen really said during her trial.

It's moving and touching.

You can see more in this : http://shopping.kelkoo.fr/b/a/ss_dvd_gr ... hienne.htm

Amicalement, Pimprenellel

Post Autrichienne on DVD - and Hello CrY!
Hi Cry,

I'm Axel. Pimprenelle and I have become good friends online through our shared devotion to Marie Antoinette.

I have seen Autrichienne and have a copy but alas mine has no English subtitles so not understanding it I lost alot. Also it was a bit depressing focussed entirely on the Queen's trial with only a couple very brief flashbacks.

To buy the DVD one place you might look is e-bay France.

I just took a look there for you and saw a copy on sale for 15 euros.

http://cgi.ebay.fr/DVD-Neuf-LAUTRICHIEN ... dZViewItem

However, if you look every so often you might find one cheaper.

Also mabe even better - I just looked http://www.alapage.com

There they are selling Autrichienne for 11.06 euros

Hope this helps!

A bientot
Vive la reine!

Post new film
Hello! I am new, too. This is a beautiful site and does honor to la belle reine. When I first heard that Kirsten Dunst was going to play Marie-Antoinette, I was ill. Seeing the photos from the film and trailer, I must say she looks lovely in the costumes. What does everyone think of the costumes in the new movie, by the way?

I just saw a picture of Scarlett Johansson at the Cannes Film festival and I think she would have made a much better Marie-Antoinette than Kirsten. She has the long neck and full lower lip. She is a good actress, too.

I must agree, Scarlet would have done a wonderful Marie! Though Kirsten Dunst does look devine in all of the costumes, she is much too skinny! Marie seemed to look much fuller, not fat, but not thin.

:D

I agree. I was actually having a conversation with my mom earlier where I was saying the same thing. She would have been much better for the role.
