To anyone in (Eastern) Australia at the moment, there is, at 8.30pm, a screening of an American two-part series documentary on Marie Antoinette being shown. Not sure what it'll be like, but it'll be interesting to see it nonetheless.

Oh, I missed it! Oh well. Which one was it?

I've found it on YouTube:

I think it's a rather common one, actually, and might be a repeat. It does cover a bit of everything, although doesn't really go into tremendous details and is a bit slow to start with, but definitely featuring some reputable historians (obviously Fraser and Lever, then also featuring Chantal Thomas, etc... though how much of an expert Schama is on Antoinette is still of question to me). I didn't like their suggestion of the von Ferson relationship, and they didn't really bring up Lamballe or Polignac as much as they could have, instead focusing more (as the part 1 title "The Marriage Bed" suggests) on the consummation and conception problems.

The next part (2/2) is showing next Saturday, 8.30 on SBS 2, or you can just watch it on the Youtube link.

Thanks for that Monsieur. I have seen that many years ago, although it would be good to give it a look again.
