I think that the French Revolution is a bit of a "nasty" myth Ludy, even for the French. After all it was a hell of a mess with much unseemly behaviour. Even though politically and ideologically it had some sound ideas....some less sound.

My point was precisely that all myths have shady sides. Any nation grounds its identity on myths, and is thus oblivious to the seamy side of that myth : the massacres and bloodsheds and so on. I don't really see your point here.

Now, were the backlashes of the French revolution worse than in any other nation ? Was it worse than the genocide of the Native people in the USA ? It is a matter of personal interpretations.

I personally think that the colateral damages are outshone by the tremedous contribution of the Revolutionary ideal to our World.
