I liked that last one. It agreed with it very much.

They portrayed the Fersen Affair so bad in this film. Made MA just look like another conquest  IT also just looked bad because in this film Louis showed so much affection for her.

Yes, well my remark was clearly about the American press.

I thought about posting the urls to the positive reviews I read but it would be a waste of my time. I am sure they have been read along with the negitive ones.

Yes, there are loads of positive reviews, but they all pretty much say the same thing.

I've finaly saw the film!

Positive aspects:
- Coppola tried to show us that Marie Antoinette is like us, persons with feelings and not only a queen of the XVIII century.
- I enjoyed the costumes, especialy when the queen adopts a more "country style".
- I LOVED when Marie-Therese said: "regarde unne petit abeille", she was so cute!
- Enjoyed the contrast (even if it could been more explored) Hofburg-Versailles.

But there were some negative points too!
- Gabrielle de Polignac is presented to the queen as Duchesse and not Comtesse (why did COppola did this? couldn't she went to wikipedia and read a few lines?!)
- The relationship Antoinette-Fersen isn't very explored
- I would prefer to see Marie Antoinette's life in the 1780s to the 1790s then the 1770s, but it's alright
- Some historical errors.

But, in the end, I've enjoyed more than I've been expected... It doesn't show exactly Marie Antoinette, but it is funny (?)[

I think that in the Affair of the Necklace, the Marie Antoinette was more suitebale for the role..Even if too skinny!

To 1 to 10, I give it..... maybe a 7 or a 8?

That is funny  as I feel the same about the negitive reviews too, but I have been reading them longer.

I am glad the film was made about this period in her life. Her younger years seem to be not as explored as her later life. And people say it was in her later years that she achieved "Greatness" but personally I don't think one achieves it. Its always within them and you can see it in them when they're younger. Well thats what I believe anyways

The character that plays the Duchesse de Chartres is Philippe Égalité's wife?

Soo many things are wrong.. History, 18 cent, film is unfinished and Marie was not very interesting in a film and we all know that her life is one of the most interesting stories in history etc...

~ I think this film was made to entice the fans of Kirsten Dunst and hopefuly bring in a good amount of money. I found the movie entertaining and visually stunning but I wish so much that there would be more historical accuracy! I really didn't like the fact that the movie has now even made more people believe that she had said Let them eat cake, how ridiculous. I also really despised all the teeny bopper rock and roll music, Marie Antoinette was a timeless beauty and the music in this movie should have resonated this. But I guess Coppola was gearing this film more towards the younger audience! What a shame, this film could have been as timeless as Gone With the Wind if done properly. :(
