just a tiny piece of trivia but i watched it the other day (my favourite film i have to say!) and noticed when rhett names their baby bonnie blue, there is a painting of MA (the one where she's holding a rose) behind him! i've watched this so many times but didn't notice before! on the other side of scarlett's bed, there's another portrait of an 18th century style lady too.

i wonder what scarlett thought of her!?(!)

Yes severina I noticed that too the last couple of times I watched it! So funny that Scarlet lacks the obvious grace exuded by Marie Antoinette's portrait right above her bed! (I hope you aren't a tremendous fan of Scarlet O'Hara  !)

the painting must have been included on the movie's set for a reason. I wonder if the director didn't mean to establish a comparison between Marie and Scarlett (??)
Not that there is any possible comparison, but we all know that Hollywood and History are not good bedfellows

What do you mean? I thought it was good that they established an historical basis by using a well known portrait of MA and re-styling it with Dunst's face on it. I did not, however, lik the painting of MA with her children-it felt to cold and morbid, and the Queen's face looked scary. The original is so light and cheery and happy, even with he empty ctradle.

it IS a gorgeous picture of dunst but its another example of hollywood suiting themselves and THEIR story. i'm more for historical accuracy than what looks nice!

Well, yes but if they hd just used the original portrait than most movie-goers would have been like "well that's a nice picture, but who's it of?"
