Yes, I saw this movie when I was 11, and I found it wonderful! I loved Norma Shearer as Marie Antoinette and I was totally smitten by the Gowns and Mantles...accurate or not ! What Majestic Splendor and Opulence, and SO Elegant and Feminine! How could an 11 year young Lady not be totally enthralled and touched. I also was impressed with how history was handled, giving a noble, courageous and beautiful impression of the Divine Queen.
And what about the wedding scenes? What a Divine Gorgeous Gown!
Naturally, I would like My Bridal Gown to be exactly the same..........

Thank You Andre and Mondeskind...!

I appreciate it and I will follow it up as soon as I can. I know that opinions vary wildly on this Movie, and that it is not historically totally accurate,

however, It is still beautiful. From what I have read though, it appears that The Queen's Gowns and robes were probably not too far off the opulence of the Gowns in this movie. But again, opinions vary............

Thank You both again.

I bought it off eBay the other day, open to all 4 regions. Keep an eye out, I thought there might have been more than one available.

I agree that the Norma Shearer movie is lovely--sets, costumes all. In fact I'd like to see it again--its been forever.

I understand from some unremembered source that like the southern aristocracy the ladies walked in a slightly pigeon-toed manner causing their hips and gowns to sway. I'd like to say here that I found Coppola's film a visual feast--the rich colors, fabrics, and settings thrilled me allowed me to ignore the immature and shallow acting.

I already asked this Marija Vera, but she didn't know, so I'll ask all of you. I couldn't fin a topic here with the film and publicity stills for this film. I was wondering if you shared some pics already, because if you didn't, I'd love to post some here. I've got lots of HQ pics, but real HQ! So if you'd like, I can post them
