 Dangerous Liaisons
My favorite book and movie. I consider book as a real masterpiece, very deep and tragic, that changed my life. I would like to hear your opinion if you had read it.

Oh, yes, indeed ! A fascinating book ! They say Marie Antoinette read it. Of course, when reading it, we have to forget how Choderlos de Laclos worked for Orleans... and against our queen...

 Re: Dangerous Liaisons
I have it in my bookcase, 1 euro from a book fair, queuing up ready to read. First I must finish 'La fin tragique des Romanov" by Pierre Lorrain.

Currently reading it and it is great! Perfectly wicked and nasty. And how interesting to remember an age when people still wrote real letters. Epistolary magic!

"Les sots sont ici bas pour nos menus plaisirs!" Please tell me your opinion when you finish it. The end is also very good. blanche dubois wrote: fantastic book!i could not recommend it more!but I do think that glen close is amazing in the film....ahhhh I like all of the actors – John Malkovic, Glenn Close and Michelle Pfeiffer. They did a really good job.

 Re: Dangerous Liaisons
I have seen the movie, and would LOVE to do the play. I've never read the book though. I'll put it on my To Read list!

 Re: Dangerous Liaisons
My opinion? So far so very good!! Valmont has just seduced or "abused" the young Mlle Volanges. The description of how the libertinous Prévan seduces three women, all friends, in the space of 24 hours, gives their cuckolded husbands rdv in the Bois de Boulogne at the same place and time for a duel, admits his "wrongdoings" to them whilst asking them for their indulgence as he is understandably tired after the night he has just spent, thereby persuading them first to sit and picnic with him as he has duly come prepared with a full hamper and wine, and finally brings them round to the obvious wine fuelled conclusion that, after all ,it was more the ladies than he who were to blame, is quite awesome ....

 Re: Dangerous Liaisons
I loved the book. I also love the film. I think Malkovich is wonderful as Valmont. But what is it with the overblown Scottish accents which the lower classes have? What's that all about? It annoys me each time I see the film.
