I recently acquired Livestream Software and I thought it might be fun to stream one of the Marie Antoinette films for our viewing pleasure.

In case some of us are unfamiliar with what I mean, essentially on the date and time we agree upon, you click this link which will take you to my LiveStream channel. Right now there's nothing but a rather juvenile chat a friend and I were having, but on the agreed time you will be able to see and hear whatever it is on my computer screen which will be, for our purposes, one of the Marie Antoinette films. We'll all be watching the movie at the same time and will be able to talk in a chatbox to the side. So we'll be watching the movie together.

EDIT:

All decisions have been made, it seems, so here's the big announcement

The 1938 Marie Antoinette Film will be playing on this stream at 3 PM North American Eastern Time January 5, 2012!

Please join us!

I think it would be nice to watch either, and I am available literally whenever, so that's not a problem for me. But, what of everyone else? I am sure we all have different timezones aswell.

Ah, yes. I even wrote to Lilly about time zones because I realized it would be a problem but then proceeded to not put it in my post. I'll edit it in in a second. But it's nothing to worry too much about. We just have to keep it in mind.

That's a brilliant idea. As far as the time zones goe, you guys are all Americans so the problem would be with me. But 10 hours is no big deal... :bunny:

Yes, a weekend would be most suitable I'm sure. I am also under the impression that I am the only American so, really, it comes down to what is most convenient for all of you.

Ludy suggested to me via private message that she might like to watch the Affair of the Necklace. That's pretty cheap to rent. What does everyone else think?

I am in Europe also, and everyday this week I am available at literally any time (I am on Christmas and New years break). Also I think any one of the films we have mentioned would be good fun to watch!!

I suggest we stick to the original selection. We already have enough of a hard time coming up with a suitable time.)))

Okay, the 1938 movie it will be then. There's nothing that says we can't throw another one of these sometime if it goes well.

I'm thinking this coming Saturday (January 5th) for the date. We just need to settle on a time...

Sounds great

And if you stream it on a Saturday, for me practically any time would be fine :)

I've invited the webmaster of the Vive La Reine blog and she has expressed an interest in joining us (I don't know, someone might find that intriguing. I understand her blog is very popular...).

I've also sent private messages to a few members of this forum who I felt would be interested but who I feared hadn't seen our little thread here - but I may have missed someone very obvious because, well, I'm mildly incompetent. So bother forum users who you think might be interested. Likewise, I messaged a few royalists I know from other websites in the hopes that they would perhaps enjoy the company of the film and migrate over here.

Because advertising, that's why.

And since I did all that, I felt justified in inviting a friend of mine who is of (combo breaker!) H├ębertist sympathy. He amuses me and always wanted to see the movie but hadn't gotten around to it. So I figured...?

But I don't have the monopoly on invitations. Feel free to invite any friends you know who might be interested. Now, we can't go ~wacky since I'm pretty sure the stream can only handle up to 50 people, but I truly doubt we'll even swing half of that.

Now January 5 seems to be our tentative date!

We just need to pick a time!

Edit:

It looks like it will be

3 PM North American Eastern Time on January 5th, 2013.

Please calibrate your time accordingly!

Yes, I'm looking forward to it as well! 5 hours until we begin.

I did want to add one caveat. I was fiddling with the stream with a friend of mine the other day and it abruptly broke off. I was able to fix it and we continued the film, but if something like that happens please just come back in five minutes or so to continue the film rather than wander off into the night. I'll mention it again during the stream itself.

Technical difficulties and all that. D:

Post subject:  Re: A Livestream

Thanks for the Livestream Vive. The movie played perfectly.
The 1938 version of this movie was a big Hollywood production with the sets and costumes being the main draw. As with any book translated to film, much of the truth in the story is lost. The basic outline presented was somewhat correct - but for the most part it was Hollywood. In 1938, I'm sure the movie was a real spectacle - Norma Shearer was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance.
I would not recommend that anyone form their opinion of MA from this movie - much more reading is necessary to even begin to get the full picture - which is why I suggested Vincent Cronin as a good source.
There were about 18 people who participated in watching.....I would have liked to have seen some serious discussion about the film in all the comments that were going on on the side. All that "eyebrow" nonsense was very annoying.
