If you want a moment of musical communion with the Quen, I recommend the "Frieden" or peace movement of the original Italian version of Glück"s Orfeo et Eurydice...wonderfully calm and mesmeric ( a nice 18th century adjective). We know that the Queen applauded and listened to this opera often. Likewise the famous aria "Chantons célébrons notre Reine" in "Iphégenie en Aulide", the first Glück opera that the young Dauphine applauded at the Opera in Paris, and during which it was the habit for the audience to stand and applaud the Queen if she was present, which caused tensions later at theatre performces during the revolution, between Royalists and Republicans.

Thank you for that interesting morsel, dear Baron! I must download Iphégenie en Aulide and listen for the Chantons aria. Have you heard the Haydn symphony "La Reine"? It's lovely and dedicated to our dear Queen, of course.
