Look what I found. It's from the French music-icon Maylene Farmer. This video ist just stylish and decadent. Perfect :angel12:

and Pourvu Quelles Soient Douces is the continuation

I think there is a video before Libertine but I didn't find it yet.
I know it is not 18th century music but I get a real nostalgic feeling when I watch this.
It looks more real than Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" (my opinion)

Tell me what you think :)

I really enjoyed watching these videos though I didn't really like the first song. Sometimes I like the mixture between old and modern but this song was a bit too simple to follow such a colorful and interesting story. I love that 18th century decadence... Somehow I had a feeling by costumes and decor that it was more late 18th century than 1750's... Especially because of the hair, costumes, make up. In 1750's I would expect to see the style of Madam de Pompadour, such hair and dresses that have the long material that fall on the back. All in all - very enjoyable, decadent, sexy, stylish... I perfectly understand how she couldn't resist those 18th century men..

Thank you for your reply, and yes it is very stylish, sexy and dekadent.

Of course the music is totally 80's but got a catchy tune.

Without the video, the music wouldn't really be that good and you are right with saying that it is quite simple.

I have to say that the cover of "libertine" by Kate Ryan is in my opinion better, but her video is not as enjoyable to watch.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

PS: her name is Mylene not Maylene. I'm sorry

Watched the second video again - really great! I like that basic, decadent element in it... Everything in the 18th century seemed more divine, even sexuality. Even if I am a woman, when I see those women running with their skirts up, in those stockings and beautiful dresses, I can't imagine that anything a woman in the 21 century can do can be more seductive than that. All the things of today made to arise fantasy are so cheap, tacky with lack of any class (just thinking of those rap videos and those blond over tanned beauties dancing (or not to say shaking their ....)).

It is also great how they tricked English troupes. Isn't the main prostitute just gorgeous? Also the song suits me better. I also like the way that English gentlemen was acting as a jerk in the beginning but they still ended up together. What I don't like are fighting scenes, not those in the end, but in the beginning when she hit the above mentioned guy, too exaggerated. Good I wish I made the same effect when I hit one guy who offended me.

Is she genuinely inspired by 18th century, are all of her videos like this?

The captain is quite handsome, he has beautiful teeth, nice smile, a bit rough look... :angel12: He imitates English accent quite well considering that he is french. (Yann Babilée)

Wow - I've just watched these videos. I do not speak or understand French, could someone please tell me what she is singing about - some of the words? Thanks!

Here is the translation of the second song, I really liked it without knowing the words so it disappointed me a little bit to read the translation. Still, maybe you need to be a native English speaker to understand it better, it is a bit too urban for me.

POURVU QU'ELLES SOIENT DOUCES (SO LONG AS THEY ARE SWEET)
Translation by Veronique Lepine

Hey guy!
This sidelong glance of yours
Not in any way is lewd
Your mummy spanked you too much
Your taste for reverse
Got nothing perverse
And your baby 's not upset

Your Kamasutra
Is at least hundred aged
My God, how old fashionned
And the very best
All around this scene
Is to love from both sides

Your Majesty
Can never move somewhere
If not with your little pillow
Forever I am
Just your only class
All is just a price to pay

You do some Ah! some Oh!
Right behind your job
While my little trousers
Up and from the back
Without loosing heart
Keep stripping your obscessions

Forever you couldn't give a damn
But so long as they are sweet
You poet, with only the Moon in head
About my curves you are KO!
Forever you couldn't give a damn
But so long as they are sweet
You aesthete, turning just silly
All's beautiful seen from the back!

Ok!
Prose or poetry
Everything is just pretext
No need to apologize
Muse or egeria
My little buttocks
Cannot stop inspiring you

I do some Oh! some Ah!
Never get fed up
For the love of a fool one
Is not it true that
The youth must pass through
What is the use to jostle?
