Post Marie Antoinette's Clothing
Image

This picture of one of Marie Antoinette's court dresses was posted on the Marie Antoinette myspace group. I just had a few questions - and if there are any other threads that already have this info - just let me know. :)

Is this picture of an actual dress worn by Marie or is a replica? How many of her dresses survive if any?

Yes it could been of Marie Antoinette...Even if it doesn't seem to me. But I can be wrong...

I know that the only Bertin's dress having belonged to Marie-Antoinette, although she never carried it, is preserved at the vault of "Notre Dame de Montflières" in Abbeville. This dress had been given by Marie-Antoinette in 1778 when she was pregnant. This dress of Rose Bertin is the only one which remains to us...
But the dress that you show us ohappydagger perhaps belonged to Marie-Antoinette, but it was not manufactured by Bertin I think

I don't think it is Notre Dame's dress, Chou-Charles. This one is very large, for it was meant for a statue.

Oh no it isn't I confirm. :D
The dress of which I spoke is smaller and gilded. I did not succeed in finding a photograph on the Net.
This is why I think that the dress that ohappydagger showed us is not a dress of Rose Bertin
But I never saw it too!

I wasn't sure, I was hoping someone else would know more about it or about how many of her dresses if any survive. Thanks for the information.

To me that doesn't really seem like something Marie Antoinette would wear... Are you sure it isn't Russian, or maybe English?
