For those of you who have not heard it yet...
The queen's shoe size was 36.5 (in France!) that is 35.5 in Germany and about 3.5 in the U.K. or approx. size 6 (?) in the US (please correct me if I am wrong)
The shoes were given to Alexandre-Bernard Ju-des-Retz who worked for the queen in 1775 and had remained in his family until yesterday.
Here is a nice pic of them along with a video link about the auction on youtube
P.S.: Just to share with you another thing: Forensic scientists use the relation of shoe size and height as a way of determining information about the dead when a whole body is not present. Specifically, they measure the length and width of feet. Several formulas exist for using these measurements.
One formula to determine the stature from foot I have found is:
(shoe size + 10,525 cm) divided by 0.3 = body height
In case of MA that gives a body size of 156.75 cm:
(36.5 shoe size + 10,525) : 0.3 = 156.75 cm body size
P.S.2: In my case however there is a difference of 5 cm (= 1.9 in) to my real body size, I am 5 cm smaller in reality
Maybe someone else could check and tell if that is true ?
