So I read on wiki before she came to France she was married in proxy. That is when you marry but one or both of the persons getting married are absent form the wedding and have a stand in. In Marie's case it was her brother Ferdinand stood in as groom. I was wondering if this was true?

Yes its' standard practice. There is from memory even a mock up of the wedding night where the stand in groom symbolically puts just his bare leg into the bed with the bride or something like that. Talk about getting your leg over.....

On Thursday, 19 April, at six o'clock in the evening, the whole court went in great pomp, and to the sound of trumpets and kettledrums, through the gallery of the Palace to the Church of the Augustines, where marriage by proxy was to be celebrated. Little Antonia, all smiles, advanced with her mother and brother. She looked enchanting in her dress of cloth of silver.
Archduke Ferdinand, 17 months older than the bride, took the Dauphin's place and knelt at his sister's side at the altar.
