Post Her Trial and Bastille
Hello,
Here is one of those questions that most may find silly, but here it goes...
They tower that she was imprisoned in, it was Bastille correct? The only other tower tower I can think of, is in London, and that doesn't make a lot of sense. lol
The other question is does anyone know where I can find a transcript in English of her trial? I did find one, but it's in French. My French is very limited.

She was not help in the Bastille as it was stormed before they were imprisioned. They were first held in Tulleries and then in the Temple.

Post Re: Her Trial and Bastille
Ah, I knew it! It didn't make any sense to me for her be at Bastille either because I remember reading that while Bastille was stormed she was in one of her gardens with the kids. I kept trying to say this, but I would not be believed. And I couldn't think of anything else at the time (well, while very tired last night) so it got kinda frustrating. LOL So part of me figured maybe I read wrong and that even though it was stormed, somehow they ended up being in prison there. Anyhow, I guess it wasn''t so silly after all. lol
Thanks!!!

Marie-Antoinette's final prison was a cell in the Conciergerie.

Whilst you're at it, try reading a good biography! Lady Antonia Fraser's is the only one I have read in English, and its' not bad. It would make things clearer for you.

Actually, I am almost done with that book. 2 more chapters to go.
Can you suggest any other books that are good?
I have already read, (I also have the PBS Documentary)
Lady Antonia Fraser's Marie Antoinette: The Journey
What M.A. Wore to the Revolution
The Private Realm of Marie Antoinette (has some beautiful photos!)
A Scented Palace: The Secret History of Marie Antoinette's Perfumer (This was a beautiful written book)
Secrets of Marie Antoinette: A Collection of Letters by Olivier Bernier
As soon as I finish the The Journey I'm starting on Marie-Therese, Child of Terror: The Fate of Marie Antoinette's Daughter by Susan Nagel

But with the flood of books on her, I'm note sure which are the good one, and which ones are crappy.
I would love any recommendations!! :)

I think we would recommend visiting the Literature forum to find out more. Usually with most of thes subject forums here you can find the information you need first.

Yes, it was Conciergerie. It couldn't have been Bastille because it didn't exist since 14th July 1789
I have something about her trial on my PC, but it's not the exact trial...
Source: http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Arc/8639/mtrial.html

It happened when Marie Antoinette was 37 years old.
The first witness, Laurent Lecointre, formerly a linen-draper, was a deputy to the Convention, second in command of the National Guard in Versailles after the downfall of the royal. He testified for two hours on the feasts and orgies from 1779 to 1789 that caused French finance in trouble.
As you can judge the validity of testimony from a formerly linen-draper.
Other accuses were similar to that, such as Marie Antoinette controlled Louis XVI by stopping him not to read a speech tpeople’s representatives, and her decision on assassinate half of the people’s representatives.
The relationship with Fersen, of course, was one of the accusation.
Her identity as an Austria princess also put her into disadvantage on betrayal of France.
Others like The rise of Mme de Polignac social status, Mme la Motte and Necklace Diamond Affair were also brought up in the trial.
Although all political events were against Marie Antoinette, but there was not any document. The court could not prove her treason. The court was just able to shown Marie Antoinette, more of an Austria princess than a queen of France, by following the orders from her mother and brother, transmitted by Mercy.
However, the jury’s declaration was:
the accused be condemned to death, in accordance with Article One of the first section of the first chapter of the second part of the penal code, which reads: "All intrigue, all intelligence with the enemies of France tending either to facilitate their entry into the territories of the French Empire, or to deliver up to them towns, fortresses, ports, vessels, magazines or arsenals belonging to France, or to furnish them aid in soldiers, money, food or munitions, or to favor in any manner whatever the progress of their armies on French territory, or against our forces by land or sea, or to undermine the loyalty of officers, soldiers and other citizens towards the French Nation, shall be punished by death".

If you have a text in French, maybe I could translate it :D

Yes she was moved to a second more closely guarded cell after the failed "carnation" plot to free her.
