I'll admit that was extremely clever of her to think of what she did. I give her credit for having enough with and courage to do it. But I don't really like her, she seems too duplicitous, and attention mongering for me to have any respect for her. There are more honorable ways or nicer ways to get attention at court.

maybe, but if you were a shop assistant with a title, what would you do?

Hmm.... I don't know start knitting socks and come up with a catchy slogan such as: "If it's for a Valois it tis good pour toi!" You'll have to excuse the botched French and English.

haha :D
you're so creative.

In essence she could have been a kept woman. Personally I'd rather be poor and have my dignity intact than a kept woman but that's just me.

Being married in those times was akin to being "kept". So many noble marriages were contracts, and love was not always involved. I think I would rather be "kept" and live comfortably with someone I enjoyed being with than on the streets, cold and liable to catch disease. But that's just my point of view. :angel1:

Touche! Well if given a choice I would prefer to be a horse because they lived better lives than most people did!

LMAO! Your right though. It's like strave on the streets or stay with a guy who's rich but only wants you to produce an heir. I guess you could become a nun too.

Yes, that's true. Unluckily, in that time if a woman didn't get married she was absolutely without protection!

I suppose you do have a point Delicate Fleur..

But given the choice between being a horse of a nobleman and being a human I would still choose the horse.

At least I know I would have shelter and food on a consistent basis during my life time.

Yes she should have. Didn't she think it wasn't going to be a picnic when she got caught?

Sometimes I wonder how it could actually happen. If you think of it, it seems more of of novel story than a historical event. For example, how could Cardinal Rohan be so stupid to believe her?

I agree. Wasn't he and Jeanne(I think that was her name) having an affair? He may have done anything she asked. She sounds pretty persuasive.
