Hi! I wanted to know, if anyone knew about those "stickers" I
guess you can call them, that Marie Antoinette and other royals
of her time used to wear on their faces. I'm not sure if they came in
any other color, but I've only seen them (in movies & documentaries)
in black, and they're usually heart shapes, moon shapes, star shapes, etc.
My question is, are they stickers? What are they? And I read somewhere
that depending on where they were placed on the face, referred to the person's
position of power, does anyone have any idea? :help:

I'd like to know more information about it,
particularly because I've seen entertainers amongst other people
using them but I'm not sure they're using them in the right places
and/or for the right reasons. :angry7:

Any information would great thanks. :bunny: :cat:

They were "beauty marks" and were considered fashionable in the 18th century.
They came in different shapes, sometimes like little velvet patches. Women also had little decorative boxes they would carry their patches in. Even today, some women will accentuate an existing mark or add one with a pencil for the beauty mark effect.

The book The Scented Palace about her perfumer Jean-Louis Fargeon mentions these, you can view the samples pages over on amazon where they mention what was used in that time.
