Post subject:  Marie Antoinette's relationship with Madame du Barry

I know, we all know the famous stories of the Queen refusing to so much as acknowledge "that woman's" presence, but I have read in a few Mme du Barry biographies, as well as M.A biographies that they actually got over their rift when the Comtesse housed some injured royal guards.

Does anyone else have any knowledge regarding this? Whether to dispute or further prove that these are factual events and not just a romanticized version of the truth. ^.^

She did. However my understanding is that the overcame their rift sometime before this event, although it is unclear how.

In Joan Haslip's biography of Mme du Barry, she mentions that the Queen wrote to her expressing her gratitude for housing the injured men, it was that or she sent someone to thank her in person I do not remember completely. I will have to consult the book again.

We never know this for sure, but overal now and then when 2 women who love/like the same man as they mature in years there develops a sort of understanding between them. Such things would have not have been put to paper in letters/written in a diary back then for being to unconvential/inappropriate.
