Post subject:  Strange Occurances in Versailles

I am very sceptical on the subject of ghosts and other strange phenomenon that might be reported to happen during history, but I did read the other day the story about the so called 'Time Slip' in Versailles -

http://members.aol.com/timeslip8888/versailles.html

This I maybe sceptical about, but something sort of strange did happen to me and my mother when I went to Versailles. We were walking over to the edge of the pond that seperates Marie Antoinette's Hamlet, and Mum went to take a photo of the old winding staircase imagining Marie walking up the stairs. All of a sudden something flew infront of the camera, like a stick, as she took the picture, and thinking nothing of it she ignored it then. Anyway, when we got back home in Australia, we went to develop all the photos of our trip, and this was the photo with the apparent 'stick' that flew across her.......

It may look like a stick but look at it up close....

If you look along the fence and at the big wooden plank in the gate, you can see it clearly through whatever that 'stick' thing is....

I didnt notice it myself until I looked up close in the picture, but not only can you clearly see that largder wooden plan ont he gate, but you can see the other smaller vertical plans too and even some of the shrubbery. Perhaps it was nothing but it did kind of make me think! I honeslty admit though I did feel Marie Antoinette everywhere especially in her Hamlet, I think her spirit would linger there as it was her favourite place.

Has anyone else got any photos similar from their Versailles trip? Or anything similar?

There is a book written by 2 English (C.A.E. Moberly, E F the Jordan) on phenomena of spirits appearance in Trianon:
"Les fantômes de Trianon"
This book is in French however... but may be it has been translated... Thus you are not only in these cases :D

Yes I did go visit Trianon, your right, there is something very special there, like I said before, you can feel Marie Antoinette there, and how much she loved it there, I really want to go back again one day now that Im a bit more grown up and could appreciate it more (I was only 17 when I did go and didn't really know what I do now about Marie Antoinette)

That's exactly how I felt, dear Jasmine... This place was inhabited. I personally never saw ghosts either. But, having experienced this myself, I think that Trianon gardens are still full of Marie-Antoinette's remanence.

I read a book Le Mystère du Petit Trianon, une vision dans l'espace-temps by Jean Senelier with préface of Jean Cocteau, perhaps it is the same book.
The athmosphere is quite unique in Hameau comparing to the sights in Paris centre for example (well, if you know the place of the main guillotine that gives shivers). But I have never seen or felt anything paranormal.

I never saw such phenomena either.
Even if indeed when we're in Trianon, we feel calms, a strange atmosphere, dependent I think of the great beauty of the places, and that we're really where Marie-Antoinette liked to often go, and where her creations are omnipresents. :D

I've read about that before the story is familiar.

I like to think it's true. Why wouldn't Antoinette visit her favorite place? It could have been an imprint type haunting, but with those you normally you can't interact act with them.
If it is an active haunting, I like to think she can be at peace in her gardens. :)

I may be crazy, but when I was in the Grand salon next to the mirror on the back wall, opposite of the windows, I had the biggest cold chill as if someone had walked through me, or bumped past me, heading towards her bedroom.
I felt like I was being pushed, but playfully, nothing angry!
It was very playful, like children would shove their friends while playing tag or something.
As if she was skipping through the room towards her bedroom.

It's interesting to read about this and I'd love to read the books about this subject, as some 15 years ago I partially watched a movie called "Mrs. Morrison's ghosts", which depicted this story about the apparent timeslip at Versailles. The movie was fine and very interesting for anyone who like History, but I could never see the entire film. I'd love to!

How odd, (in a good way) that's really quite cute and endearing! Perhaps our dear Queen likes you! ;)
