Madame Royale said once that
this picture is the best from all painted ones. According to her the picture resembles her mother the most.
Marie Antoinette had really incredible big eyes...

The painters more realistic than Lebrun like Wertmüller and Kuscharsky said that Marie-Antoinette had globulous eyes... but what a beautiful eyes! :D

Madame Lebrun wrote "she didn't have large eyes". She certainly had globulous eyes due to her non cured myopia. According to Vigée, they were "almost blue" but they were not drab. And Tilly said that they were extraordinarily expressive.

You can see this on Kusharsky's unfinished painting :

Ah, Chou... When you look at this painting, she captures you, keeps you and won't let you go...

I think the portrait Madame Royale considered the more resembling is this one :

But I am not completely sure. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

However, if you look carefully, you can see that Kucharsky's painting (the most relistic ones, in my view), show the same face than Lebrun's one. We can observe the same charactristics : long narrow ovale, delicate complexion, large buggling eyes, deep blue, large brow, strong nose, aquiline, sensual lips, heavy chin... and this so peculiar expression that makes you drown into those ocean eyes...
