Hello, just thought some people might think this is interesting...a very well known and upscale hotel near my home hosted a ball not to long ago with an 18th century theme. I guess a wealthy couple had this theme for their engagment party. I was told this happened quite some time ago but it is still cool. :D

I would love to host/attend something like this one day.

I've seen great sets on Flickr where people have gotten together in 18 cent dress and had picnics at Versailles or similar places.

Alas, we must dream until it can be a reality.

Let us list more of our ideas for this Grande Bal, shall we?

Who wouldn’t like to attend such ball? I would need months just to prepare! :angel10:

It would be interesting to hear some ideas.

I get out of school in November...what about New Orleans! It seems like a great place for something like this and maybe we could turn it into a charity event for Katrina victims.

I just attended a virtual Mad Hatter's Tea Party.

The blogs that I follow....each had a post on Saturday that was related to a Mad Hatters Tea Party, there were all kinds of stories, pictures, fun etc.

We should do something like that?!

Pick a date
Plan
The day of...we post pics, outfit ideas, what we would serve, the decor, etc
Post them to blogs and everyone can run around (online) and see what others have posted.

Or just post it all here, for those without blogs

Axel
I was scrolling down to post: "What about New Orleans ?"

On my last trip there I saw , at night, a group set up having late night dinner, with velvet tablecloths, gold goblets, dressed in period costumes, in Jackson Square, right in front of the Cathedral.People wouldn't even look twice at you if you had a 12 foot high white wig on and were having a ball in the middle of the square, it's NEW ORLEANS !

You can get hotels really cheap thru bookit.com . (great hotels full of flavor and antiques). We could probably get a group rate for booking a whole B & B like the LaMonthe House, which does have a central courtyard.

There is even a hotel there called the "Marie Antoinette", but I've never seen it.

......but if NOLA was chosen, I'd recommend it be AFTER sept, and BEFORE May, or we'd boil alive in period dress....

I've been to NOLA 3 times and I love this city. It will take awhile to plan such a thing but if someone will lead me in the right direction I will get started. School is out in November, I can't wait!
