In my opinion, Marie Antoinette is the very picture of Franz Stephen...

Antonia Fraser's Book on Marie Antionette has a very good description of her looks. It says that whilst she was pretty, she wasn't really beautiful. She had to have braces or "pelicans" as they were called back then to fix her teeth, she had a nose and forehead too large for her face and small breasts. There was more but i can't remember it all. i remember that she has nice hair and skin.

Of course, she had small breasts, for she was still a girl then ! Later, she would marvellously develop : 58cm waist for 109cm breast, which make an extremely interesting ratio.

She was also very small for the same reason, and she would get taller later too.

With regards to her nose, it seems Madame Fraser really has a problem with Marie Antoinette's nose ! I wonder why... She even said that it would go too strong, by the time of this portrait :

I never saw anyone more beautiful in my entire life... :D :D :D

Well... Didn't Lady Fraser also said that Kirsten Dunt was not "disfigured by an Habsbourg thick lower lip" ? :?

59 for109? It's envyable!!!! :D

I think I have understood her beauty was not a classical beauty, but her charme made her appear even more beatiful than women with more regular features. That's what I find particularly attractive of her; for example, they said her beauty was at her best when she walked, because of her dignity and grace.

Indeed ! Stephan Zweig wrote that Marie Antoinette's beauty was at its best while moving. I think he is right. She had more than beauty, she had this special grace and charisma that would make people feel like dying for her.

All testimony are consistent : in the "Galerie des glaces", everybody noticed the Queen first by her charisma

Marie Antoinette's hourglass figure was well suited for the fashions of her times. As Pim said her measurements were 58 cm waist and 109cm bosom - corresponding to 23 inches waist and 42 inches bosom.

True. I meant as in her face had a unconventional beauty. I wish I could have a tiny waist like that! In a certain way she is both a conventional and an unconventional beauty. :D

In my opinion she was beautiful; when she was younger she was beautiful but that beauty wasn’t so deep. Later she gained more weight and changed, became wiser and more mature. I see her as an attractive woman then, charming and graceful.
Do you know her approximate weight in kilograms and height in centimeters?

I read somewhere she was about 1, 65 m tall, which was pretty much for a woman at that time (people were normally shorter than now). But I confess I can remember where I read it, so maybe someone can correct me!

She was beautiful. More than her actual height, she had this so special carriage, that immediately identify the queen among her women. She was just like Dido, Diana walking with her oreades...

Dear Pim, I do so love reading your admiration for our dear Antoinette! I like Fénélon's description of her at 30 years, '..as the Queen proceeded to Mass in stately fashion, the plumes of her head dress shook, and she dominated all the other ladies of the court as a great oak rises above all the other trees of the forest.'
