Post Happy Valentine's Day!
Warm wishes to everyone on this lovely day, whether you are celebrating with a loved one or hoping to receive a new Valentine, have a wonderful time! :D
I wonder if Antoinette ever celebrated Valentine's or if it's a modern revival from the times of the Saint?

Yes, Happy Valentine's to you all!

Valentine's Day has actually been celebrated ever since the 5th century, on this very day. But I guess they didn't really celebrate in the same way that we do today. I guess it's likely that Antoinette (and people from that time) celebrated the day in some way, but it would be very interesting to know if there is any evidence of how/if she did.

Wikipedia has some facts about Valentine's Day if you're interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine%27s_Day

I would think that, it being the 18th Century, and being staunchy Catholic, it would have been celebrated more like a Feast Day for St. Valentine, rather than the cute hearts and flowers that we have today.

Yes, this seems very likely, but I wouldn't put it past the court of Versailles to share little love tokens or sweet nothings, either! :D

Yes, you're probably right. Parties, masques, poems!
