Post Marilyn Monroe
Are there any admirers of Marilyn here? Next to my newly developed interest in Marie Antoinette, I adore Marilyn, and have since I was ten years old. I find her history just as facinating as that of Marie A.

Oh, wow, you ask me a hard question there Reine! But if I HAD to pick, I think it has to be Some Like It Hot (but There`s no buisness like show buisness, Bus Stop, Seven Year Itch and The River of no return are good as well).
How about you?
Are you a collector?

I am not a fan but I can say I like her, after reading one biography and watching some documentaries I became interested in her, not in her acting but personality. :book:

I liked Marilyn, too, especially during her lifetime. (Yes, I'm old enough to remember her alive.) She was an extraordinary woman in her day and created lots of excitement. Her death, though, was a shocking revelation of how unhappy she was. It doesn't matter whether her death was deliberate or not; she was taking way too many drugs.

If you get a biography of her with lots of photos over the years, you will notice her facial features change noticeably during her twenties. It's evident that long before it was common or acknowledged, she had had cosmetic surgery. She was very beautiful and it was a disappointment to learn that it wasn't all natural.

I am dubious, too, about her connection with the Kennedy brothers. It's rather like Fersen and Antoinette. Everyone involved is dead and no one is talking. I imagine it was just a mutual admiration that got blown out of proportion.

I love MM also. My favorite film in which she starred would be "Bus Stop". Which movie is it where she sings "Diamonds are a Girls's Best Friend"? :glasses:

:blob7: well....all my life people around me where collecting things...I never did...

I always get rid of things...clean up...to feel free to throw things away.....I dont know how to say....so upto 3 years ago I was not collecting anything..... :glasses:

But here and than I am really sad about it....I miss things I gave away already....hm... :banghead:

So today, I have unfortunately only 2 movies with her left (bus stop, some like it hot) and 2 Books about her.

the only thing I started to collect (since 3 years) are fans

Okay, well, it`s a start :) I have most of her movies, missing the first ones she did, I have several books, both about her, and books with photographs of her. I have t-shirts, purses, posters, mugs, a plate with her Andy warhol image on....and so on, too much to write down. I could post a picture if you are interested?
The ultimate thing for meg would be a Franklin Mint doll, but they don`t send to Norway :(
