Post Hi, I am new
Hi,

I am from the United States.

I joined here because I came across 2 pieces of artwork that have been uncovered in my family. I am attempting to research these items to help determine their history and their value. I don't know if it is acceptable to receive that type of feedback here or not. If it is, kindly let me know. If not, might you direct me another place?

Thank you.

Jim

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid we can't point you in the right direction until you give us some more information about these paintings. Are they from the 18th century? Are they related to Marie Antoinette?

I would recommend you speak with an art valuer, particularly one that specializes in historical pieces.

Thank you for your reply. What I have are 2 framed paintings by J. Rigaud-

One is Les Promenade Du Palais Des Thuilleries, and the second is titled Vue Du Bassin De Neptune Dans Le Jardin De Versailles.

These have been passed down though several generations. I can't find very much information, either about the artist or the paintings.

Thank you. Have a great day!

Jim

Will dig around for you but I still recommend you see a art valuer.

Jaques Rigaud, born in Marseilles, was a military draftsman and was known for his etchings and drawings of the gardens of Louis XV..... among other scenes throughout France and England during the early 18 th century.
