Post An inspired bride arrives...
Hello all, I was browsing around doing some research and stumbled onto these forums and was rather fascinated and somewhat intimidated by the level of knowledge being shared and with a few questions to ask I thought I should leap in.

So to introduce myself I am a graphic designer from Sydney who is getting married later on this year in November (which is late spring/early summer our time) and it is through the research for inspiration for this event that I have turned to Marie Antoinette. I want to capture something of the spirit of Trianon in particular to create an atmosphere of relaxed glamour. The wedding will be held in a quiet secluded area of natural beauty by the Hawkesbury River, there is no mobile phone reception and access is via boat.

I guess like many I fell in love with Marie Antoinette after Sofia Coppola's gorgeous film though I have always loved history and some of the beautiful intricate designs and highly detailed craftsmanship of the past. I've not really followed much of French design before as I tended to prefer more of an Austrian style or later historical periods such as Art Nouveau, Jugendstil and Viennese Seccession Style. To my mind the softer more minimal colour palette of the Viennese Schönbrunn palace is just stunning with its lovely gold and white opulence.

Anyway I look forward to discovering more about Marie Antoinette.

Well the best way to do that of course is to read a biography about her. There's plenty of them recommended here.
