Guess what my answer is ? Obviously your too ! Marie-Antoinette half nacked behind her fan or completely drunk beside a huge bottle of champaign ? Come on !

Casting, scenario (if this movie ends in 1789, why can't we see any children in the trailer. Little Joseph died in 1789, didn't he ? Could have been important to put on a trailer !), costumes, music... it's a catastrophy !

See the article posted by York, dear CrY. The reaction of the president of the Marie-Antoinette association, in Paris. It's a perfect summary of all I fear, too !

Yes, he is ! I've met him at a colloque on Marie-Antoinette in Versailles. He's really fascinated with her, and has a huge collection of wonderful pictures.
He even showed us le petit Trianon under snow... Pure beauty !

I think I must differ from you two ladies *laughing* I find with all such things that it is much better to see the thing first than to jump to conclusions. The number of film trailers I have seen which don't quite match the finished product is astounding, so I remain optimistic that what we get in the film won't be quite so bad!

Hi, CrY ! He you talk to Michèle Lorin, of course, she's a woman ! Sorry for the confusion...

Dear Adrienne, having seen Virgin Suicides, I'm still sceptical. Coppola seems obsessed by teens problems. It's a little bit poor for as life as Marie-Antoinette's !
I totally agree with Michèle Lorin this is a very dangerous game. In my view, showing Marie-Antoinette naked on a bed and provocative sends us back to pornographic pamphlets of the revolution !
I hate the trailer, I hate the rythm, the music, the costumes, the casting. I see no beauty in that. To compare with Dangerous Liaisons or Jefferson in Paris, I feel dissapointed by this trailer, even if it wasn't about Marie-Antoinette.
Wait and see, you're right. What else can we do, anyway ?

IMHO, Hollywood rarely produces a movie that is accurate unless the real people or representatives of the people or events have some control over the movie's story. If certain facts aren't obtained or explored it's easy to give the wrong slant. Let's hope they did their homework. I try to teach my kids to dig deeper to the truth no matter what is shown in the media. I don't like to see innocent or misunderstood people portrayed falsely for any reason.

Post The film ends when MA is thirty
I read yesterday on IMDb that the new film ends when MA is only thirty years old. Will there be a sequel, I wonder??
