I saw that one in the Hofburg Palace. They had all of the children's miniature portraits.

Today I was at the Comte de Paris' succession pre auction exhibition in Paris. I had the privilege to hold in my hand two objects that belonged to the Queen, firstly a gold ring with an ivory face enclosing her husband's hair intertwined in tow tiny loops. Also the little embroidered satin pouch that she made whilst at the Temple prison, in perfect condition. Its' quite a feeling to handle such objects. Prices will go through the roof, no doubt.

That saddens me, that such things are up for sale. They should be held in a collection, not broken up and spread among individual owners. Perhaps Chateau de Versailles will purchase some of these items for their collection.

I agree with that although I would like to have some object that belonged to the person I like so much. :(

I'm truly sorry, in my usual hustle and bustle I forgot my camera! I remembered when it was too late!

Catherine Delors has a post on the Comte de Paris' auction - you can find there pictures of Marie Antoinette's embroidered silk purse for Madame de Tourzel, a fragment of a lace embellished dress worn by Antoinette at the Temple, Louis XVI's razor and a locket of the royal couple's hair. http://blog.catherinedelors.com/2008/10/13/a-purse-embroidered-by-marieantoinette-goes-under-the-hammer.aspx

Tee-hee! I knew that many reading Baron's post would be disappointed that he didn't take photos of the embroidered purse, so I was lucky to check Catherine's blog today and see this post! :rainbow:
